‘Wednesday’ breaks views record of ‘Stranger Things’ 4

‘Wednesday’ has broken the record for most-watch hours in a week for an English TV show, overtaking ‘Stranger Things’ season 4, which was released earlier this year.

The Addams Family Spin-off, based on Wednesday Addams, raked in 341.23 million watch hours after its release on November 16, while Stranger Things had managed 335.01 million at its peak.

In season 1, Wednesday is sent to Nevermore by her parents after a prank goes way too far. She quickly takes a liking to her new surroundings.

The official synopsis reads:

“The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”

Talking about the character of Wednesday, director Tim Burton had earlier said: “She shares my worldview on things and that was fun to explore.”

The series is yet to be renewed for season 2, but with the kind of response it has received, an official announcement from Netflix might be around the corner.
