Troll is an upcoming Norwegian fantasy film that centres on a reawakened ancient troll (Norwegian folklore) and a group of disorderly heroes trying to contain it from wreaking havoc.

Release date

Troll is scheduled to release on Netflix on December 1, 2022.

Official synopsis

“Deep inside the mountain of Dovre, something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway. But how do you stop something you thought only existed in Norwegian folklore?”

Troll is created by a special team of Alicia Vikander and director Roar Uthaug. Both have worked together previously in Tomb Raider. Uthaug claims the movie is a manifestation of development spanning over two decades now. Makers of the Netflix film Cadaver, Espen Horn, and Kristian Strand Sinkerud are the executive producers of the film.

Teaser

A group of researchers are examining signs of a creature that is supposed to exist only in ancient folklore before coming face to face with the creature itself.

Trailer

When Norway is suddenly faced with an unprecedented crisis of ancient, giant trolls, they retaliate in the only way they know how, which is through military might. However, the researchers brought in to learn more warn the government that the trolls will not go down quietly.
