Dioneo is Tindaro’s doctor who gets a lot of female attention at the Villa Santa. Amar Chadha-Patel plays the character.
Dioneo always accompanies Tindaro wherever he goes, helping his rich master balance the humor in his body and survive the many dangers of the world.
He is also a charming and strapping man who is known to do well with the ladies. Tindaro believes that women are God’s biggest mistake and doesn’t understand why Dioneo enjoys their company.
Neifile and Liscisca take an interest in him, while Panfilo also chooses to pleasure himself while watching him from a window.
Liscisca is being courted by Tindaro, but she has her eyes set on Dioneo to satisfy her needs.
A mixed bag of emotions
Dioneo and Liscisca start sleeping with each other and she learns that his father was a wine merchant.
Meanwhile, Panfilo paid him to rescue Neifile after she fell into a well and waited for a sign from god to be saved.
The attention she gets from him gives her impure thoughts, and Panfilo tells her that she shouldn’t feel ashamed because those thoughts were put in her head by god.
She wishes to sleep with him as she believes it is god’s wish, but he turns her down because he has already fallen in love with Lisisca.
She is conflicted about her feelings for him because she feels a momentary attraction to Tindaro and the fact that she is pretending to be Filomena.
Dioneo poisons Tindaro so that he cannot propose to Liscisca, and then he visits her at her chambers and sleeps with her.
Tindaro is made aware that Dioneo is poisoning him and goes searching for him when he catches a glimpse of him sleeping with Liscisca.
A terrible fate
Dioneo is exposed as a criminal in front of everyone and relegated to the status of a servant.
He tells Neifile that Panfilo paid him to save her, and he attempts to convince Liscisca that he’s a good person deep inside.
When Ruggiero arrives at the villa, Dioneo is allowed to join everyone else in their merriment.
He is one of the few allowed to stay in the villa when Ruggerio finds out the truth about Leonardo, but that leads to his unfortunate death.
He is among the rest who caught the plague and died from it. His body is buried with the others, as Tindaro says a few words about his fallen friend who also poisoned him.
