Shahmaran: Turkish Netflix series gets January 20 release date

Netflix has announced the release date for its upcoming Turkish fantasy drama series ‘Shahmaran’: January 20.

The announcement clip hints at an eerie storyline:

The official synopsis reads:

“Going to Adana as a lecturer, Şahsu is determined to confront her grandfather, who left her mother behind years ago. On this journey, she finds herself in the middle of an unusual and mysterious community called Mar, descended from Shahmaran.

“Believing in the legend of Shahmaran, one of the greatest symbols of love and wisdom, the Mar race awaits the completion of the historical prophecy with the arrival of Şahsu. Nothing will be the same again when Şahsu’s path crosses with Maran’s.”

The show is led by Serenay Sarıkaya and Burak Deniz, who starred in Netflix’s recent romantic drama film ‘Don’t Leave’. The cast includes Mustafa Uğurlu, Mahir Günşiray, Ebru Özkan, Mert Ramazan Demir, Hakan Karahan, Nilay Erdönmez, Nil Sude Albayrak and Berfu Halisdemir.

Umur Turagay directs, while Pınar Bulut has written the show. Timur Savcı and Burak Sağyaşar (TIMS & B Productions) are the producers.
