“Royalteen is a love story about living with your mistakes, conquering your fears and breaking the internet. When newcomer Lena (Ines Høysæter Asserson) and the Norwegian prince Karl Johan (Mathias Storhøi), Kalle amongst friends, start to develop warm feelings for each other, Lena is charmed but also sceptical, for many reasons.
“Party prince Kalle is a regular figure in the tabloids and the gossip blogs – one of them was run anonymously by Lena herself until she was exposed. Lena is painfully aware that dating the future king might put them both in an impossible situation and she has not told Kalle or anyone else about her even bigger secret, which is also the reason why she moved from her hometown.”
The film ‘Royalteen’ is based on the book, Arvingen, by Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen. Janne Hjeltnes from The Global Ensemble Drama is the film’s producer.
As seat partners, Prince Karl Johan and Lena introduce themselves to one another. Prince Karl Johan introduces himself as Kalle. Lena corrects Kalle when he pronounces Lena’s name incorrectly as Lene by singing a song, which only makes the awkward situation worse. While Lena is socially awkward, Kalle is incredibly sophisticated.
Lena joins a new school and has some high-profile classmates including royalty. Her growing relationship with a crown prince puts them both under the spotlight with Lena undergoing a true identity crisis trying to balance her past with her present.
