‘Pokemon Journeys: The Series’ Netflix release date confirmed

The Netflix release date for the latest season of the Pokemon anime, ‘Pokemon Journeys: The Series’, has been revealed as June 12.

Here’s the official description:

“Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum has a new plan: see the world! But first, he and his partner Pikachu are headed to the opening of the Cerise Laboratory, a research facility dedicated to uncovering the mysteries of Pokémon in every region. Ash meets Goh, another boy with boundless curiosity about Pokémon, and both are overjoyed when Professor Cerise asks them to become official research fellows. With Ash as determined as ever to become a Pokémon Master, and Goh aiming to catch one of every Pokémon (including the Mythical Mew), our heroes are in for adventure and excitement as they explore the wide world of Pokémon!”

The last season saw Ash becoming the champion of the the Alola region’s first Pokemon league. He also beat the Alola champion professor Kakui in an exhibition match, even with him choosing the legendary Pokemon Tapu Koko as his final Pokemon.

Pokemon Journeys will follow a unique storyline compared to the previous seasons, with Ash exploring multiple regions instead of the usual one where the entire saga is based.

The latest season will launch with 12 episodes, with a further 12 being added every three months.

The anime has been airing in Japan since November 17 last year, however, the production has been halted due to lockdown. Old episodes are being aired to compensate for the lack of new episodes.
