Pareeksha: Prakash Jha’s contemporary drama on ZEE5

ZEE5 has announced a brand new original titled, Pareeksha – The Final Test, written, directed and produced by national award winning filmmaker, Prakash Jha.

The film, inspired by real-life events is about a rickshaw puller whose only ambition in life is to provide quality education to his son. In order to achieve that, he goes on to make some choices that pins him on the wrong side of the law, threatening to destroy everything.

Pareeksha in inspired from the experiences of former DGP of Bihar, Abhayanand, and is a contemporary drama that critically analyses and comments sharply on the Indian education system.

In a statement, Jha  said:

“Shri Abhayanand is an IPS officer and educationist who, while serving as the police chief in Bihar’s Naxal-infested areas, came across kids from those villages who were so bright with their native wisdom that they inspired him to begin coaching them to crack the IIT-JEE – the toughest exam which the young students must clear to be able to join one of the best educational institutes in the country. Their success had a great impact in the crime-infested badlands of Bihar and made a difference.”

Pareeksha – The Final Test had its premiere at the 50th International Film Festival of India last year at Goa and is scheduled to stream on ZEE5 from August 6.

The film stars Priyanka Bose, Adil Hussain, Sanjay Suri, Anant Kumar Gupta, and Shourya Deep in pivotal roles.
