“I’ve heard tales of your kind, witcher,” says a voice as Geralt of Rivia walks on with his sword and starts slashing. The main trailer for Netflix’s The Witcher digs deep into its magical lore and leaves an impact.
The fantasy show was announced earlier this year and Netflix gradually released character looks in July. They also put out a surprise teaser at San-Diego Comic-Con which was the talk of the town.
Now the bells have been rung and the countdown begins as The Witcher has a full trailer and a much-awaited release date. The show stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan in lead roles.
Owing to the fact that it is based on an immensely successful videogame franchise and books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, the series has a lot of expectations to fulfil.
And if the trailer is anything to go by, things are looking to be in its favour. Henry Cavill looks surprisingly on point as Geralt of Rivia and the rest of the cast follows suit.
The locations, VFX and the camera work look fantastic too. It still gives a very Game of Thrones vibe but hopefully, that is restricted to just the trailers.
The description of the show reads: “The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
“But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.”
The Witcher starts streaming on Netflix on 20 December 2019. Check out the trailer below:
