Netflix producing series on ‘Blockbuster’ video rental service

Netflix is producing a workplace comedy series on the ‘Blockbuster’ video rental service which thrived till the early 2000s but is now down to its last store.

The 10-episode series is set around the workers of the last store in America. It narrates what it takes for a small business to survive against all odds.

It stars Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, Olga Merediz, JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn.

Vanessa Ramos is the creator of the series, while David Caspe and Jackie Clarke serve as writers/executive producers. The filming began in February 2022 and is being shot in Vancouver, Canada.

Netflix, itself, was a competitor with Blockbuster in the video rental agency and is considered a major reason for its downfall.
