Netflix announced an original African web series in the making, Jiva!. This project will be a local African production completely.
The show will revolve around the life of Ntombi, a talented street dancer. Living in a working-class neighbourhood in Durban, she has to manage her unsatisfactory job, a chaotic family, and a rocky love life.
Ntombi soon realises that her talent could help her begin her life differently, but she will have to face several challenges to reach there.
Noxolo Dlamini will play the lead role in the show. The cast of Jiva! also includes Candice Modiselle, Sne Mbatha, Stella Dlangalala, Zazi Kunene, Anga Makubalo, Given Stuurman, Ntuthuzelo Grootboom, Zamani Mbatha, and Tony Kgoroge.
Busisiwe Ntintili, an award winning writer, director and producer, is the Creator and the Showrunner of the web series.
Scottnes L. Smith and Mmambatho Montsho will be jointly directing the web series. Bontle Modiselle and Tom London have joined the team of choreographers for the show.
Jiva! will be produced by Blue Ice Africa with Busisiwe Ntintili, Adam Friedlander and Tebogo Maila as Executive Producers.
