Comic Iliza Shlesinger to lead Netflix’s ‘Good on Paper’

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer of, ‘Good on Paper’ — a mostly true love story written by American comedian, actress, and television host, Iliza Shlesinger. The romantic comedy which also stars Shlesinger in the role of a stand-up comic will start streaming on the platform from June 23.

The trailer of ‘Good on Paper’ highlights that the movie is not a story of love at first sight for its protagonists, though the primary comedic tension derives from a romantic relationship that eventually develops between the two.

Andrea Singer (played by Shlesinger) is 34 and not married since her career as a stand-up comedian was always a priority for her.

But when Dennis (Ryan Hansen), makes an entry into this successful comedian’s life, she thinks he is a good catch and plans to settle-down.

However, to her friend Margot (Margaret Cho), he seems too perfect to be true. Here commences a merry and circuitous chase to uncover Dennis’ real identity.

The movie also stars Rebecca Rittenhouse, Matt McGorry, Tyler Cameron, Taylor Hill, Kimia Behpoornia, Rebecca Delgado Smith, and Beth Dover.

‘Good on Paper’ is a directorial debut of actress and filmmaker Kimmy Gatewood, and is produced by Han West, David Bernon, Paul Bernon, and Sam Slater.

This slice of life comedy is a passion project for Shlesinger who believes that “a comedian turns real life into art”. Her quest for something funny and relatable ended up with ‘Good on Paper’, a story with “a lot of comedy and heart.”
