Filming for ‘The Witcher’ season 3 gets underway

The popular Netflix fantasy series ‘The Witcher’ has recently begun filming on location for the third season with the production releasing a behind-the-scenes image of the main cast members.

A picture featuring Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg) and Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla of Cintra) from the very first day of production was shared to announce the news. Season 2 was released back in December 2021.

At the end of season 2, Ciri’s true power as the child of the Elder Blood, capable of opening portals to other worlds and releasing terrible monsters upon the continent was revealed as well as the existence of the ‘Wild Hunt’.

The official logline for Season 3 reads: “As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers.”

The Witcher was originally a book series of the same name written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and was then adapted into a video game series with the first instalment released back in 2007.

The television series was created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich with the first season consisting of eight episodes released on Netflix in its entirety on December 20, 2019.
