Robert De Niro has been roped in to star in new F1 Netflix film ‘The Formula’, which will be written, directed and produced by Gerard McMurray.
It will also star John Boyega, who rose to fame after playing Finn in the recent Star Wars trilogy.
The official synopsis reads: “A Formula One racing prodigy is forced to become a getaway driver to save the only family he has left.”
McMurray added that The Formula revolves around an F1 prodigy, who becomes a champion under the tutelage of a former F1 legend, but it comes at a price.
He also expressed his excitement on Instagram: “Feels AMAZING to see this idea in my head finally come to life that I’m writing, directing, and producing.”
The Formula has been produced the filmmaker’s new production house Buppie Productions and Tribeca Films.
McMurray last worked with Netflix on the American drama film ‘Burning Sands’, while De Niro returns to the platform after starring in last year’s acclaimed film ‘The Irishman’, alongside Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. It was helmed by Robert De Niro.
He will also be seen in Scorsese’ upcoming film on Apple TV+; ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
