Netflix has announced that the upcoming ‘Berlin’ series has begun production. It is a spin-off of the highly acclaimed show, ‘La casa de papel’ AKA ‘Money Heist’.
The plot will focus on one of the most high-octane heists pulled off by the iconic titular character played by Pedro Alonso.
Talking about the project, creators Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina said, “Berlin’s character has the most sparkling personality to place it in another universe. We loved the idea of introducing a new gang around Berlin in a completely different emotional state”.
The show will also star Michelle Jenner as Keila, Tristán Ulloa as Damián, Begoña Vargas as Cameron, Julio Peña Fernández as Roi, and Joel Sánchez as Bruce.
‘Berlin’ will have eight episodes and will be written by David Oliva, David Berrocal, Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina. Geoffrey Cowper will fill in the director’s boots alongside Berrocal and Pina.
The show will commence shooting on October 3 in Paris and will take place over several weeks between the French capital and Madrid, Spain. It is touted to release in 2023.
