ZEE5 has released the trailer for the second season of their gritty web series Abhay. It stars Kunal Kemmu in the lead who returns as Inspector Abhay Pratap Singh, the titular character.
The web series is based off of real life crime stories and follows the lead as he solves bizarre murder mysteries while struggling to deal with his own problems. The first season was met with a lot of praise and also marked Kemmu’s digital debut.
Talking about the new season, Kemmu said:
The first season did receive a fantastic response from the audience and this promo will give them a kickstart of what’s to expect from Abhay Pratap Singh, a lot of high stake thrill & gritty action. Season 2 is even more challenging for my character as I am thrilled to announce the promo of Abhay 2 and excited to see how the audience will like this season.
The almost two minute long trailer showcases even worse crimes and bigger threats for Singh. It is indeed an apt glimpse for how dark and edgy the new season claims to be. The central negative characters in the series are being played by Ram Kapoor, Chunky Pandey, and Bidita Bag.
Kapoor, in a statement to IANS, said:
“The character is going to leave the audience stunned. He has no name, he is like an unsolved riddle, an extremely mysterious psycho killer/super-villain. The writing is perfectly interlaced with the character, giving it layers. It was a tough play for me, unlike anything I have done before and I even managed to scare myself a bit. God willing, the fans would give me as much love for this as they have given me all these years.”
Chunky Pandey too previous said in a statement:
“My character is a normal-looking guy, but not when it comes to finding ways to feed his cannibal instinct. Looks can be deceptive indeed.”
Season 2 also stars Sandeepa Dhar, Elnaaz Norouzi and Deepak Tijori. It has been directed by Ken Ghosh and produced by Firefly Productions. The official release date has not been revealed yet.
It will premiere on August 14 on ZEE5.
