7 Prisoners on Netflix: Release date, cast and trailer

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming Brazilian drama film ‘7 Prisoners’ or (7 Prisioneiros), starring Christian Malheiros (Sócrates) and Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld) in the lead.

Release date

Although the exact date is yet to be revealed, it has been confirmed that 7 Prisoners is set to release in select theatres and on Netflix in November.

Synopsis

The official description by Netflix reads:

“To provide a better life for his family in the country, 18-year-old Mateus (Christian Malheiros) accepts a job in a junkyard in São Paulo for his new boss, Luca (Rodrigo Santoro). But when he and a few other boys become trapped in the dangerous world of human trafficking, Mateus will be forced to decide between working for the very man who imprisoned him or risk his and his family’s future.”.

This movie first premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on September 6, 2021.

Trailer

18-year-old Mateus leaves the countryside in search of a job opportunity in a São Paulo junkyard. Once there, Mateus and some other boys become a victim of a work system analogous to modern slavery run by Luca, forcing Mateus to make some very difficult decisions.
