7 shows like ‘Triptych’ on Netflix

Triptych follows a forensics expert whose world is turned upside down as she learns that she has not one, but two doppelgangers, setting off her series of investigations into her past and how she was bereaved of the company of her triplet siblings all her life.

Rebecca, a forensics expert in her thirties, suffers one of the most surreal whiplashes of her life when she comes across a dying woman who seems to know her name and looks exactly like her.

Investigating the woman and the suspicious circumstances surrounding her death, Rebecca takes on a journey of discovery and revelations, both dangerous and important to her life up until now, as well as moving forward.

Here are 7 other Netflix shows like Triptych that follow similar storylines and appeal to the same genres and themes:

1. Woman of the Dead

Cast: Anna Maria Mühe, Yousef Sweid, Hans-Uwe Bauer, Felix Klare, Emilia Pieske, Lilian Rosskopf, Romina Küper, Simon Schwarz, Sebastian Hülk, Shenja Lacher, Gregor Bloéb, Robert Palfrader, Michou Friesz

Woman of the Dead revolves around an Austrian woman named Blum, a widower who owns a ski resort. Soon, she comes to learn that her dead husband was actually murdered. The cause of his death had to do with him uncovering some big secrets.

Making the shocking discovery propels Blum to set out on a quest for revenge against those who killed her husband. However, her quest soon devolves into a hunt where she’s not the predator but the prey.

Set against the chilling backdrop of snowy mountains, the story plays out with an equally chilling atmosphere pervading through all of the narratives, as Blum has to work and find out her husband’s killers as well as expose the ugliest secrets that the local community harbors.

The psychological aspects of the show may remind the viewers of the similar themes in Triptych, along with the similarity regarding the female protagonist taking on a mighty force to bring the truth to the forefront.

2. Little Women

Cast: Kim Go-Eun, Nam Ji-Hyun, Park Ji-Hu, Wi Ha-Jun, Uhm Ji-Won, Um Ki-Joon, Kim Mi-Sook, Kang Hoon, Jeon Chae-Eun

Little Women follows three sisters who after being embroiled in a major incident, must contend with one of the country’s wealthiest families. In-Ju, In-Hye, and In-Keong are three sisters who hail from poor family conditions.

They aspire for money, independence, and love, but achieving all of that’s pretty difficult. However, that seems to all change as one of the sisters stands to inherit 70 billion won from her wealthy friend who dies.

For the fruit to bear, there must be no adverse turn of events, but the sisters have to contend with just that, as the supposedly dead woman’s family won’t let up even by a little and do anything to prevent the girls from taking the wealth.

Like in Triptych, the Kdrama also sees three sisters going up against forces to be reckoned with, as a cunning play of conspiracies is afoot.

3. The 7 Lives of Lea

Léa finds a young man’s remains, following which she is transported back to the 1990s and goes through seven body swaps. She must then work her way out of this most unique situation but not before solving the mystery of the young man’s death.

It all starts when Léa comes across the remains of a teenager named Isamael, only these remains trace back to thirty years ago, in 1991. The incident triggers a surreal turn of events that sees Léa transported back to 1991.

A huge caveat that holds her and her investigation back is the fact that every morning, Léa wakes up in a different body, with the total number of these swaps being 7.

4. Wednesday

Cast: Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Christina Ricci, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Naomi J. Ogawa, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán

Wednesday Addams has to move to Nevermore Academy for the outcasts and freaks when she’s expelled from her school. Having planned a brief refuge before she takes off, Wednesday is forced to stay at the academy after a series of morbid events take place, with some targetting her life for some inexplicable reason.

Tickling her curiosity and rejuvenating her penchant for all things peril, the antagonists and monsters live in the shadows. Meanwhile, the great conspiracy and a familial legacy keep Wednesday on her toes.

Dealing with the chilling, atmospheric, and preternatural elements are some of the major similarities that the show shares with the mystery thriller Triptych.

5. Lockwood & Co.

Cast: Ruby Stokes, Cameron Chapman, Ali Hadji-Heshmati, Ivanno Jeremiah, Jack Bandeira, Luke Treadaway, Morven Christie, Ben Crompton, Hayley Konadu

At 13 years of age, Lucy Carlyle is sent off to the local Ghost hunting agency called Jacob’s. Three years later, she has to end her tenure at the agency in a rather abrupt manner.

Following that, Lucy flees to London, where she joins the ghost-hunting agency called Lockwood & Co., run by Anthony Lockwood and George Karim. Without any adult supervision, the three must work together to rid people of ghosts and spirits.

Based on Jonathan Stroud’s book series of the same name, Lockwood & Co. sees the titular character feeling his hope for the world getting reignited as the young ghost hunter enters his life.

6. Katla

Cast: Guðrún Eyfjörð, Íris Tanja Flygenring, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Aliette Opheim, Valter Skarsgård, Aldís Amah Hamilton, Þorsteinn Bachmann, Sólveig Arnarsdóttir, Haraldur Ari Stefánsson, Björn Thors, Birgitta Birgisdóttir, Hlynur Atli Harðarson, Helga Braga Jónsdóttir, Björn Ingi Hilmarsson

This Icelandic drama sees a town contending with the grounded as well as downright surreal turn of events that emanate as the nearby sub-glacial volcano begins erupting. It begins a year after the eruption begins, and doppelgangers of people presumed dead for years and decades start coming out of the volcano, covered in ash.

Meanwhile, a volcanologist must uncover the truth behind the volcano, where he also discovers a fragment of a meteorite. Outside of the volcano, a series of his dark and dreadful past begins erupting in front of his eyes, as his long-presumed dead son, returns to him, alive and well.

As these doppelgangers, termed “Changelings” by everyone in the town of Vík, begin coming to town one by one, the residents have to contend again, with the issues of their past they had left behind. Strong female leads and an inexplicable mystery are two of several similarities that Katla shares with Triptych.

7. Curon

Cast: Valerio Bilello, Luca Lionello, Fedrico Russo, Margherita Morchio, Anna Ferzetti, Alessandro Tedeschi, Juju Di Domenico, Giulio Brizzi, Max Malatesta, Luca Castellano

Daria and Mauro Raina are twins, and when they return to their mother’s creepy little hometown of Curon, Italy. Their arrival is not met with any kind of warm welcome. If anything, the whole town seems to be aversed to them, including their mother Anna Raina.

As the story moves forward, it’s revealed that Anna had fled the two 17 years ago, when the twins got birthed. Her abrupt leaving of the town was also triggered by a violent turn of events that saw her mother pass away in tragedy.

While they must endure the tacit aversion to themselves among the public, the twins embark on a mission of their own when Anna goes missing.

At the center of Triptych, there’s an experiment that’s carried out on twins and triplets. The show’s central characters bear some similarities to Dario and Maura, and the premise of people going missing while seemingly normal people turn out to be secretly conspiring against them.
