Set against the backdrop of 16th century India, it narrates the story of a kingdom where women have no freedom to make decisions.

By the looks of it, the series holds immense importance for gender politics, love, lust and revenge as its key themes. Apart from this, Paurashpur also holds significance for its stellar cast.

Meet the main cast of Paurashpur:

Shilpa Shinde as Queen Meerawati

Shinde plays Queen Meerawati who challenges Bhadrapratap Singh’s ways and plots against him with the enemies of Paurashpur. Meerawati plays Maharaja Bhadrapratap Singh’s wife.

Her character is that of a strong woman who knows how to manipulate people around her to climb up the ladder and smash the patriarchy.

Annu Kapoor as Maharaja Bhadrapratap Singh

Paurashpur is a land of the royals. This empire is led by Maharaja Bhadrapratap Singh who is vocally sexist. His ruthless and wicked demeanour harms the women around him and he treats them as slaves.

Bhadrapratap Singh is a masochist who has patriarchy running in his veins.

Milind Soman as Boris

The gender equality narrative of the show will be best led by Boris, a transgender person played by Milind Soman. Boris stands for revolution.

His fearless attitude and the tendency to be a confidant will win him battles.

He plays ‘Nrityaguru’ or dance instructor in the show.

Shaheer Sheikh as Veer Singh

Sheikh will mark his debut on OTT with Paurashpur. As Veer Singh, he will essay the role of a brave and dedicated warrior who is incredibly strong, unstoppable and unpredictable, with a past that haunts his present.
