ALTbalaji, in collaboration with ZEE5, has released the official trailer for its upcoming original drama, “Paurashpur”. It is set to premiere on both the platforms on December 29.
The series is a magnum opus that follows a troubled empire filled with wicked characters and cruel intentions.
The official description for the show reads:
“The mystery of the missing queens. The lust of an oppressive king. The vengeance of a rebellious queen and the wrath of a realm pushed to the edge. Will an uprising be the beginning of the end of this mighty kingdom?”
Paurashpur features a stellar cast with the likes of Annu Kapoor, Shilpa Shinde, Milind Soman, Shaheer Sheikh, Anant Joshi, Poulami Das, and Sahil Salathia, among others.
Soman, who plays a transgender character in the series said:
“I like working on interesting and challenging fictional characters, as it allows me to explore a new world every time. I am happy that so many people have appreciated the look of my character, and I hope they love the show too.”
Shilpa Shinde, who plays Queen Meerwati, also talked about the topics Paurashpur highlights:
“I think most of the actors are always on the look out for a show like Paurashpur. The show touches upon a lot of serious issues like patriarchy, gender politics, power, etc., which used to exist even in those days. I am delighted to be a part of an interesting show shot on such a grand scale.”
