Yi-kyung’s daughter: Sweet Home season 2 character explained

In the second season of Sweet Home, Yi-kyung gives birth to a daughter, played by Kim Si-a. Yi-kyung’s daughter is born a monster with extraordinary powers.

Yi-kyung continues her search for her missing fiance in the second season. She manages to sneak into the Bamseom Emergency Management Bureau, where she finds the body of her neohuman fiance. The sight of his body triggers something in Yi-kyung.

Despite being in the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus undergoes rapid development within a few minutes, leading her to deliver the baby unexpectedly. Yi-kyung then falls into a lake, and it is her newborn daughter who saves her life.

Abandonment at birth

When Yi-kyung gains consciousness, she realizes that her baby is a monster. Yi-kyung tries to kill the child, but she cannot bring herself to do it, so she abandons her daughter. Hyun-su finds Yi-kyung and her daughter, and he raises the child after Yi-kyung abandons her.

Yi-kyung’s daughter grows faster than human children, but she looks like a human. Yi-kyung, who has been watching her grow up but keeping her distance, cannot stay away from her for long. She does not know what her daughter is, but she decides to be a part of her life.

Yi-kyung and her daughter lead a happy life for a while. One day, a group of humans attack and almost kill the child. The girl grows older in the blink of an eye, and she uses her powers for the first time, which scares Yi-kyung.

Extraordinary powers of a monster child

Yi-kyung’s daughter can turn a human into a monster just by touching them. The infected people do not show any symptoms, and their transformation is rapid. Her powers challenge everything that humans know about monsterization.

Apart from creating monsters, she can also look into their minds and control them. That is how she knows that her mother is scared of her powers. Yi-kyung keeps trying to deny the fact that her daughter is a monster.

She prevents her daughter from coming into contact with humans, as she fears that she will hurt them. She cannot abandon her daughter, but she cannot accept her either. This leads to Yi-kyung’s daughter setting fire to their home and running away from her mother.

As Yi-kyung’s daughter has always seen humans treating monsters cruelly, she does not trust humans. She also tells Hyun-su that she has no home and that she no longer needs Hyun-su or her mother.

Later, Hyun-su convinces her to go with him to meet her dying mother. She knows that Yi-kyung’s death will hurt Hyun-su, so she turns Yi-kyung, who apologizes to her before dying, into a monster.

Yi-kyung’s daughter does not care whether her mother dies or not, so she does not stay to witness her mother’s transformation and subsequent death. It is to be seen whether Yi-kyung’s daughter sides with or against humanity, as her powers make her capable of saving as well as annihilating humanity.
