Wilson Morales: Bandidos character explained

Wilson Morales, a forger, is Miguel’s uncle, who comes out of retirement for him. In Bandidos, Juan Pablo Medina plays Wilson.

Wilson’s father wanted him to be a lawyer, but he never finished his degree, as he realized that his true passion lay in the field of art.

Inspired by the work of other artists, he started using his talent to counterfeit art pieces and taught Miguel everything he knew about scamming people and stealing from them.

He has retired now, but whenever Miguel gets into trouble while scamming people, he comes to his rescue without fail.

When Miguel finds a map and decides to search for the hidden Mayan treasure, Wilson agrees to join him on the quest.

Wilson’s secret

Miguel never had a mother, and his father never cared about him as much as he cared about his work and his favorite student, Ariel.

It was Wilson who provided him with paternal love and raised him. With Miguel’s father suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, Wilson is the only family Miguel has.

Aware that Miguel is struggling due to his father’s condition, Wilson decides to keep his own illness a secret from him.

Wilson has pancreatic cancer, and as he does not have medical insurance, he borrows a lot of money for his treatment and gets into debt.

Despite that, he finds out that no treatment is going to prolong his life. Wilson accepts his fate but chooses not to tell Miguel anything.

Wilson is too protective of Miguel, so when Lilí returns, he does not get along with her, as she broke up with Miguel in the past.

Lilí has come back because she wants Wilson to give her a new identity. She is the only one who notices that Wilson is sick.

Wilson keeps working with Miguel despite his impending death. Apart from crafting a flawless moon stone replica, he also creates a counterfeit passport for Lilí to help her change her identity.

Wilson’s death

When the boss tries to kill Miguel to take his revenge, Wilson intervenes to protect Miguel.

The boss ends up stabbing Wilson, who chooses not to go to the hospital, as he does not want to die there.

In his final moments, he resolves his differences with Lilí and gives her the passport he made for her. He also asks her to take care of Miguel.

Wilson has a prosthetic leg, and no one knows what happened to his leg. It remains a mystery, one he only shares with Lilí in exchange for her revealing her real name.

Before passing away, Wilson expresses pride in Miguel, a sentiment never conveyed by Miguel’s father, which made Wilson angry with his brother.

He advises Miguel to trust himself, admitting that the treasure hunt became the greatest adventure of his life.
