Lilí: Bandidos character explained

Lilí, Miguel’s ex-girlfriend, returns to town and gets involved in Miguel’s hunt for the hidden treasure. In Bandidos, Ester Expósito plays Lilí.

Lilí is a sharp scammer who dated Miguel in the past. They broke up when Lilí, believing that she was not good for Miguel, left him.

Lilí reenters his life by choosing to stay at the hotel where he works. While Miguel is still in love with her, she makes it clear to him that she will not date him again.

After seeing the map passed down by Francisco de Montejo, Miguel tries to convince Lilí to join his group in hunting the Mayan treasure that was hidden centuries ago.

When Lilí refuses, he reports her to the police. Lilí, unaware of Miguel’s involvement, seeks his help after being arrested. Miguel gets her released, leading to Lilí joining his treasure-hunting group.

An invaluable member of the group

Lilí earns a living by scamming rich tourists she encounters at the hotel. She has a keen eye for selecting her targets and is much better at it than Miguel.

Despite rejecting Miguel’s advances, Lilí cares about him just as much as he cares about her, even though she does not show it.

When Miguel is kidnapped by the boss, instead of leaving him to die, she seeks Octavio’s help and manages to rescue him.

Later, she gets Ariel’s help when the group is arrested. It is her quick thinking that saves Miguel and his group several times.

In addition to devising ways to rescue Miguel and the group, Lilí’s intelligence proves invaluable in locating the treasure.

She not only discovers the whereabouts of the keys belonging to the other two conquerors but also deduces that Francisco sank his ship containing the treasure.

Lilí is also the only one who notices that Wilson is sick, a fact even Miguel fails to notice.

Hard to trust

Lilí comes across as ruthless and self-centered, which is why the rest of the group, especially Wilson, has a hard time warming up to her and trusting her.

When the group discovers there is a traitor among them and Lilí confesses to being the traitor who has been working with Ariel, everyone believes her.

It is only later that they learn Lilí never betrayed them; it was all part of her and Miguel’s plan to locate the treasure’s hiding place.

Miguel never doubts Lilí because he understands her and the reasons behind her seeming coldness. Lilí has been avoiding some highly influential and dangerous individuals.

Due to that, she left Miguel and returned to ask Wilson to forge a new identity for her. Before his death, Wilson and Lilí resolve their differences.

Wilson provides her with a forged passport, which will give her a new identity. During this time, Lilí and Wilson share secrets they have never revealed to anyone, including Lilí’s real name.

Lilí mourns Wilson’s death alongside Miguel. However, she plans to leave soon, knowing that the people searching for her will not give up until they find her.

Faking Lilí’s death

To secure Lilí’s freedom, Lilí and Miguel devise a plan without informing the rest of the group.

When the group finds the treasure, Lilí pretends to steal the gold jaguar, prompting Miguel to stage her shooting.

The group, including Ariel, believes Miguel killed Lilí. A body resembling Lilí’s is discovered by the police, convincing everyone of her death.

Believing that she is dead, the people who had been after her stop chasing her, and Lilí finally gains her freedom.

Miguel and Lilí decide to keep the truth about Lilí’s death from the group for the group’s own good.

The treasure is divided among the group, with Miguel receiving his as well as Wilson’s shares, which he intends to share with Lilí.

Now wealthy and safe, Lilí and Miguel can be together. Although Lilí suggests they part ways once they run out of money, they both know that will not happen.
