Hong Hae-In was saved by an unknown kid when she almost drowned to death in the shipwreck that saw her elder brother die. The identity of her savior is revealed in the latest episode of Queen of Tears.
A shipwreck caused Hong Hae-In to drown near the beach, and her brother died in the same incident. For all this time, she has been blaming herself for her brother’s death, because she believes he died saving her.
It is also the same reason her mother grew contemptuous of her own daughter.
She has not been able to cope with her son’s death and so she has always kept Hae-In away, growing distant from her as their relationship only became more estranged as days went by.
Recently, Hae-In is invited to her house and meets with her grandfather, but only after she has dinner with Eun-Sung. He drops a bombshell of a revelation on her to get her to start eating, and hopefully see him in a new light.
Eun-Sung’s lies
Yoon Eun-Sung, in his relentlessly creepy and pathetic pursuit to get Hong Hae-In at any cost, lies to her about who saved her from drowning in that incident that day.
Of course, the savior was himself. He also tells her of another instance where she was going to be attacked by a dog who he defended her against.
It was he who saved her both times, he claims.
Hae-In doesn’t have clear pictures related to those incidents so she buys it. However, at the same time, her mother is spending time with Hyun-Woo’s mom, who is showing the other one the family album.
Hong Hae-In’s real savior
She proudly showcases her son’s achievements throughout his childhood and life, recorded in photographs. One such photograph has him standing with his classmates at a beach.
Kim Seon-Hwa instantly recognizes that beach and says so to Jeon Bong-Ae, who tells her that her son rescued a child from drowning that day.
Baek Hyun-Woo saved Hong Hae-In that day, not Eun-Sung, or Hae-In’s brother who died, as she has always believed. While Eun-Sung might have Hong Hae-in fooled momentarily, her mother is sure to set the record straight.
