The Faures: Anthracite characters explained

In Anthracite, Mrs. Faure, a nurse obsessed with Caleb, raises her kids to make Caleb’s dreams a reality.

While Faure was pursuing her nursing studies, she used to manage storage units, including one of Solal.

Trespassing into Solal’s unit results in her finding out about Caleb, his cult, and his teachings.

She watches all of the tapes on Caleb and grows obsessed with him to the point where, when she becomes a nurse, she gets a job where Caleb is admitted.

Faure intends to help Caleb get back to what he was. However, Caleb has made up his mind that he deserves to be where he is right now. Hence, he asks Faure to never see him again.

Caleb’s rejection and Faure’s obsession with him sees her forcefully have intercourse with Caleb at night so that she can bear his heir.

Faure ends up giving birth to twins, a girl and a boy, with the boy being Hari, a doctor whom Roméo is dating.

Becoming murderes

Faure raises her kids on the ideologies of Caleb, making them watch videos of the cult leader. Her children grow up calling Caleb their father.

She makes sure that her kids never cross her and only listen to her, which is why Hari doesn’t hesitate to shoot Roméo when the time comes. Growing up, Hari is taught that he is a child of the Prophet, born to perform miracles.

He and his sister follow the Prophet’s plan, according to which Hari will perform a miracle while his sister will make a sacrifice. To put this plan in motion, without getting caught, Hari’s sister is sent into the mines.

Gio, who has been investigating several missing cases over the years, figures out that all of these disappearances have taken place near a mine entrance.

They discover bodies inside the caves and a killer roaming around, who turns out to be the sister of Hari.

The fate of Faures

While Faure and Hari’s sister have cornered Jaro and Malia down in the cave, Hari does the right thing by reporting them to the cops.

Caleb and Ida come to stop them. However, they are of no use. Arcacia’s explosions inside the mines possibly claim the lives of Faure and her daughter.

Only Ida, Jaro, and Malia come out of the cave alive. Meanwhile, Hari, the only survivor among the Faures, is sent to prison.
