Shehnaz is one of many characters with many shades in the ensemble of colorfully wicked people around whom the story of Murder Mubarak revolves. Karishma Kapoor plays the character in the Netflix film.
Shehnaz Noorani is an actress who is also running to be the next president of the Royal Delhi Club. Her campaign is all about change and reform, which triggers Rannvijay Singh who is her opponent in the race.
She is a single mother of two teenage daughters, Shahana and Ira. She is an independent woman who, while having her fair share of secrets, is not as dreadful and down as her fellow RDC members.
Others call her a washed-up actress and all sorts of other things, but she doesn’t normally throw venom at others. She does have a major secret, which is not a dirty one like others but is sure one she has been fearful of getting out.
She gave birth to a son when she was only 16 years old. However, she never got to raise him as he was taken away from her.
Shehnaz’s secret
Shehnaz’s mother didn’t let her see her son’s face upon birth when she was very young. She later learned that he was placed in Shepherd’s Home Orphanage.
As her career progressed, Shehnaz tried to forget her past and move forward, but she kept making donations to the orphanage.
Leo got to learn who her son was and had his photos, so he started blackmailing her. His only condition was that she accept her son in front of everyone or else he’d reveal everything to her daughters.
The orphan son
Before Bhavani gathers all the people in and around the case at the club for his final revelation, Shehnaz tells her daughters about everything.
She also stands up and introduces her son to everyone. It is Rakesh, the warden of the orphanage who also grew up there, along with Leo Matthews.
He and Leo used to be best of buddies and since he wasn’t a favorite for adoption due to his disability, Leo would purposefully misbehave all the time, so that he wouldn’t be adopted and continue to be with Rakesh.
That is also the reason why he wanted Shehnaz to accept his best friend in front of everyone so that his life moving forward would assuredly be better.
The truth and acceptance
After Leo’s death, Rakesh is enraged at all the elites of the Royal Delhi Club whom he blames for his death. He considered Leo to be the Robin Hood because he’d bring in so many donations to the orphanage.
When he sees the news of Rannvijay Singh getting arrested on suspicion of murdering Leo, he takes Leo’s bike to go attack him. On the way, he falls off the bike and a tablet falls out of the bike’s saddle bag.
It’s Leo’s tablet with all the videos and photos of all the club members, i.e., all the evidence against them he used as leverage. From that, he also probably finds out that Shehnaz Noorani is his mother.
Shehnaz has also found out by then that Rakesh is her son. The two meet and during the final revelation, she accepts Rakesh in front of everyone, as they both bawl their eyes out while embracing each other.
