Shane Tessier is Maya’s friend, who helps her investigate her husband and sister’s murders. In Fool Me Once, Emmett J. Scanlan plays Shane.
Right after Maya’s sister and husband are murdered, Maya sees her dead husband on her hidden nanny cam.
Apart from that, Maya is being followed by someone. At a time like this, Maya cannot trust anyone, but Shane is an exception.
A trusted friend
Shane is like a brother to Maya. They served in the army together. Later, as military police, he helps Maya whenever she needs it.
When Maya starts suspecting Joe of murdering Claire, she asks Shane to check the bullet of one of the guns owned by her and her husband.
Shane questions Maya about possessing that bullet, but Maya never answers all of Shane’s questions. He knows that she is keeping him in the dark, yet he continues helping her as her friend.
Whether it’s investigating Tommy Dark and the car that has been following Maya or examining the bullet that killed Claire, Shane does it all.
Shane worries about Maya not being able to deal with her past, and he, too, asks Maya to get help, but unlike others, he is genuinely concerned about her.
As he looks out for Maya, he confronts Sami Kierce when Maya tells him that Kierce is being bribed by the Burketts.
Rising suspicions
It is only when Maya is accused of murdering Tommy Dark that Shane refuses to help Maya until she answers all his questions.
However, as Maya is his friend, he agrees to assist her on the condition that she is truthful, but Maya still lies to him.
Soon after, helping Maya gets Shane in trouble. Kierce finds out that Shane tested the bullet, which was from the same gun that killed Joe and Claire, for Maya.
It is then that Maya tells Shane what happened the day she killed civilians on a mission, which resulted in Maya losing her job. That day, Shane was in the helicopter with Maya.
Maya and Shane were asked not to shoot down the vehicle heading towards them, but Maya was not willing to risk the lives of her people, so she turned Shane’s comms off.
She then lied to Shane that they had got the confirmation, which led to Maya killing the civilians. Shane receives a rude shock when he learns that Maya did not follow the procedure.
Following this confession, Shane pieces together the information about Joe and Claire’s deaths and reaches the conclusion that Maya killed Joe.
Maya then tells him the whole truth and confesses to killing Joe. Shane then helps her one last time by driving Izabella and Luka.
Even after Maya’s death, Shane continues to be Lily’s family. When Lily gives birth to her daughter, Shane is seen with her in the hospital.
