In Jagged Mind, Papa Juste appears in front of Billie from time to time to warn her about something. However, she fails to understand the language he is speaking. Jimmy Jean-Louis plays Papa Juste.
Papa Juste is the owner of a relic shop in Little Haiti. Billie often comes face to face with Papa Juste whenever she is taking a run around the town.
The first time she sees him in the movie, she suffers from a blackout. He continues to appear in her visions and even says something to her in another language once when they meet again.
Billie gets scared and runs away from him. She finally finds out who he is and why he is appearing in her visions when she discovers the stuff Rose, who knew about her blackouts, has kept inside a mysterious box.
Papa Juste’s role in Jagged Mind
When Billie discovers Rose’s body, she also comes across a mysterious box in Rose’s house that has appeared in her visions before. Inside the box, she comes across stuff belonging to Rose, including a drive that contains a video.
The video features Rose, Billie, and Papa Juste having a conversation at Papa Juste’s shop. Apparently, Billie’s blackouts and visions have nothing to do with early dementia. Alex is causing them with the help of a powerful magical crystal.
Alex is using the crystal to reset time and days whenever she gets into a fight with Billie or breaks up with her.
Rose first discovered the crystal and used it. The crystal is dangerous as it changes people completely. Since Alex stole the crystal, Papa Juste has been helping Rose retrieve it. Every time Billie came in front of Papa Juste, he tried to tell her to remember in Creole.
Papa Juste is in possession of a box that protects the things inside it from the reversal of the crystal. They put this stuff inside it so that one day Billie can discover this video and remember everything.
After stopping Alex, Bille has to return the crystal and the box to Papa Juste. She is warned not to keep the crystal for herself because the crystal will change her too. Billie manages to stop Alex, but she never returns the crystal to Papa Juste.
As predicted, Billie turns out to be like Alex and now looks forward to finding someone with whom she can forcefully have a perfect relationship.
