Miguel Morales: Bandidos character explained

Miguel Morales, a petty scammer, decides to embark on a quest to find a centuries-old Mayan treasure. In Bandidos, Alfonso Dosal plays Miguel.

Miguel is the son of a renowned archaeologist, Juan Morales, but instead of following in his father’s footsteps, Miguel became a scammer like his uncle, Wilson.

Despite his efforts, Miguel could never earn his father’s approval. He feels constantly overshadowed by Ariel, his father’s best student whom Juan adopted.

Like Ariel, Miguel shows interest in his father’s work, but as he never finished high school, Juan does not believe in him as much as he believes in Ariel.

On the other hand, Wilson appreciates and cares for Miguel. He ends up being the supportive father figure Juan never was.

The treasure quest

Miguel works at a hotel, but he continues scamming people because his father develops Alzheimer’s disease and moves to a nursing home.

Miguel struggles to afford his father’s expenses, but he still tries to be a good son and do his best.

When Miguel meets a descendant of Francisco de Montejo, who shows him a map left by Francisco, Miguel believes he might be able to find the hidden treasure that his father always talked about.

Furthermore, Miguel is still in love with Lilí, who has returned to town. Miguel also believes that if he gets rich, he will be able to help Lilí, which serves as a strong motivation for Miguel.

Miguel and Lilí make a good team. Miguel easily figures out Ariel’s involvement in his father’s kidnapping and tricks Ariel with Lilí’s help.

Contrary to everyone’s expectations, Miguel proves to be an intelligent leader. He is able to solve most mysteries, and when he does not, he remains optimistic.

Apart from that, Miguel also cares about the group he has put together. Even when his own life is at stake, he ensures that no harm comes to them.

The one who found the treasure

Miguel’s father often took him to archaeological sites when he was young, so Miguel acquired considerable knowledge about his father’s field of study.

However, sometimes Juan took him to dangerous places. One day, he was caught trespassing on a site with Miguel.

To save himself and his father, Miguel caused a blast and ended up injuring an archaeologist, who tries to kill Miguel years later to exact revenge.

However, Wilson sacrifices his life to save Miguel. Miguel starts losing hope in finding the treasure, but Wilson asks him to trust himself and keep going before passing away.

After Wilson’s death, Miguel almost gives up. However, it is then that he ends up discovering the location of the ship that has the treasure.

Miguel and his group finally find the treasure, a feat that even Juan failed to achieve. The discovery makes Miguel and his group rich, and Miguel is able to take better care of his father.

Since he is the one who discovered the treasure after Ariel’s attempts failed, Miguel is no longer bothered by his father favoring Ariel over him.

Miguel thinks about opening his own hotel now that he has the money. Additionally, he gets to be happy with Lilí after faking her death.
