May: Monarch: Legacy of Monsters character explained

In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, May is a tech expert who gets dragged into Cate and Kentaro’s mess. Kiersey Clemons plays May.

Kentaro and Cate seek May’s help to access the files they discover hidden in a safe in their father’s workplace. May is into audio, and her apartment is filled with equipment from the past.

May does freelance coding and game design professionally. Using her apt skills, she manages to decrypt the files Hiroshi has hidden from the world. However, accessing these files puts not only Cate and Kentaro but also May under Monarch’s radar.

May and Kentaro’s relationship

It is revealed that May and Kentaro have dated each other. Kentaro needed some time, and May gave him that. Even then, he ghosted her, and she doesn’t think she deserves that.

May is disappointed that Kentaro only came to her when he needed tech support. However, she understood why accessing these files is important for him and decided to help him despite all the differences they have.

May keeps working on those files while Tim and his team come looking for them. They do visit May’s apartment and ransack the whole place. May manages to escape with Cate and Kentaro.

May is dragged into a mess that is not hers and loses the life she had in Japan. Kentaro says that she doesn’t have to stick out her neck for them if she needs to go.

May reminds Kentaro that his mess is the reason she has lost everything, and until she gets back what he has cost her, he doesn’t get to tell her what she needs.

May continues to assist Kentaro, Cate, and Lee as they try to find out why Monarch is after Hiroshi’s files and where Hiroshi is. She has further digitized those files and made them more accessible.

May’s secret

In the seventh episode of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, it is revealed that May’s real name is Corah Mateo.

May, as Corah, used to work at a company called AET, Applied Experimental Technologies. After finding out that AET is experimenting on animals, she crashed the company’s servers and wiped out their research.

Following that, she left the country, changed her name, and settled in Japan. After parting ways with Lee, May is kidnapped by AET in Algeria, and Cate and Kentaro are left looking for her.

Cate and Kentaro rescue her after forcing Deputy Director Verdugo of Monarch to cut a deal with AET, resulting in AET letting May go.
