Lennie: Eric character explained

Lennie, Vincent’s best friend, is connected to the Sierra nightclub case. In Eric, Dan Fogler plays Lennie.

Lennie and Vincent have known each other for years. Lennie even knows about Vincent’s past and his mother medicating him.

Lennie is not only Vincent’s best friend but also his colleague; he is a leading creative on Good Day Sunshine

Vincent, who is considered a creative genius, built Lennie’s career along with his own. It is Vincent’s ideas that are behind the success of the show.

While Vincent builds puppets and handles the creative side of things, Lennie manages the team and keeps the producers happy.

Although Lennie has not built a puppet in years, he convinces himself that he shapes Vincent’s ideas and has an equal hand in the show’s success.

Lennie’s lack of loyalty

Lennie is better liked by their colleagues and the producers as compared to Vincent, who is often harsh and brutally honest.

Lennie knows how to play nice with the people in charge, so Vincent goes to him when he wants to introduce Eric, his new puppet, on the show.

Lennie places his trust in Vincent and convinces the producers to give his idea a chance. Vincent aces the pitch and gets Eric on the show.

Vincent is grateful to Lennie for his support, but Lennie fails to support him when Vincent needs it the most.

The producers decide to take Vincent’s idea and fire Vincent. Lennie does not stand up for his friend, as he agrees with the producers that Vincent is destroying himself and the show.

Lennie breaks the news to Vincent and asks him to go to rehab, despite knowing that Vincent, whose son has gone missing, is going through a very hard time.

Feeling betrayed, Vincent then says hurtful things to Lennie, even going so far as to label him a fake artist. After Vincent’s departure, Lennie struggles to produce content of the same quality as Vincent’s.

Lennie’s past comes back to haunt him

Lennie is a gay man living in a very homophobic time. He often hires sex workers and was one of the people detained when the Sierra nightclub was raided six years ago.

An underage sex ring was being operated at the club. However, Lennie was let off with a warning, and his name was never revealed to the public.

His colleagues do not know about his connection to the club, and he prefers to keep it that way, as he might lose his job if this information is revealed.

When Edgar disappears, Ledroit starts looking into the Sierra case to find links between The Lux, Marlon, and Edgar. He comes across Lennie’s name and questions him.

Although Lennie, who was very close to Edgar, never hurt him, he is still afraid of being suspected because of the case from six years ago.

This fear allows Ledroit to pressure him into giving Ricardo’s name, which helps in his investigation.

Once Marlon’s case is solved, due to The Lux’s involvement, the Sierra case resurfaces. This time, the details of the case are released to the public.

When Lennie’s connection to Sierra’s sex ring is exposed, he jumps out of his apartment window and takes his own life.
