Lee Hong-Ran: Doctor Slump character explained

Lee Hong-Ran is a major supporting character in the rom-com drama series, Doctor Slump. Gong Seong-Ha plays the character.

Lee Hong-Ran is a great friend to Nam Ha-Neul, something that the latter has had a very limited supply of in her life so far.

Hong-Ran is an outlier in that she truly supports and cares for Ha-Neul.

She doesn’t just check up on Ha-Neul regularly but also worries for her health and safety.

Professionally a competent and busy person, Hong-Ran is a single mother who does have some challenges spending more time with her young son.

Profession

Lee Hong-Ran is an anesthesiologist in the obstetrics and gynecology department.

She has been a friend to Nam Ha-Neul since college, where the two were classmates.

Like Ha-Neul, she is also a hard worker and isn’t one to slack off at all.

She also bails on a coffee break as soon as an emergency case calls for her participation.

Her occupation and the nature of it make it hard for her to spend more time with her young son and she hopes she can soon change that.

The accidental lover

Hong-Ran mistakenly hit subscribe on an obscure NeoTube channel that she thought was silly one day.

This channel belongs to Bin Dae-Yeong, a plastic surgeon and a friend of Yeo Jeong-Woo from their college days.

One day, she sets up a blind date for Nam Ha-Neul; and Dae-Yeong mistakes Ha-Neul for Hong-Ran until he’s corrected.

The two stumble upon each other one day in an elevator, before going on a date soon after.

However, the whole NeoTube channel reveal ends things for the two because Hong-Ran tells Dae-Yeong that his channel isn’t for her and that she subscribed to it by mistake.

Before they can head out their separate ways, a bug lands on Dae-Yeong’s head that she spots.

She and her son catch bugs together as one of their quality pastimes.

Her son has been wanting to catch the very bug that has landed on Dae-Yeong’s head.

And so their story continues, and soon they’re bound to catch all the similarities they share despite being so different as well.
