Kang Su-Ho: Wonderful World character explained

Kang Su-Ho is one of the main characters in the Disney+ revenge thriller Kdrama, Wonderful World. Kim Kang-Woo plays the character.

Kang Su-Ho is a successful anchorman who has been steadily climbing the ladder of success not for vanity but for a purpose related to a painful past.

Kang Su-Ho had a perfect life and a perfect family. Even if he had some mental health issues to contend with, he had people to support him at all times.

A loving wife in Eun Soo-Hyun and a just as adoring son in Gun-Woo, his life was filled with optimism and bright hope for the future.

Losing Gun-Woo & justice

That all ends when his son is killed in a car accident by a careless man of power who has little remorse for his actions.

His actions are even criminal as they lead to the loss of precious time that could save Gun-Woo’s life.

Despite all that, at the trial, the judge deems him not guilty and not in violation of the traffic rules. He’s given a sentence of only two-and-a-half years.

What’s more, is that his sentence is suspended for five years.

Losing Soo-Hyun

A distressed and wrecked Soo-Hyun runs him over with her car when he shows his true, apathetic self to her.

She goes to jail for that and gets seven years. This breaks Su-Ho even more, but he is determined to get his son and wife justice.

Kang Su-Ho repeatedly tries to visit his wife in prison, but she keeps refusing to meet him until she does.

She lies, that he has no part in her life anymore and that it’s the last time he’s going to see her.

It breaks her but she deems it necessary because she doesn’t want him to suffer because of her.

Efforts for justice

After his wife is jailed, he starts digging into Ji-Woong, the man who killed his son.

He soon finds out that he is connected to Congressman Kim Joon, the corrupt politician he was once trying to expose for which he had to quit his job.

Kim Joon quickly learns that Su-Ho is sniffing around for information and invites him for a meeting.

He asks her if he has any proof supporting any of the allegations, and Kang Su-Ho leaves him speechless and swallowing his own spit in nervousness.

Su-Ho swears for revenge and warns him, but Kim Joon quickly turns the tables by showing Su-Ho how his actions can lead to his wife Soo-Hyun’s elimination.

Su-Ho is offered a letter of recommendation and his job back at ABS, with an NDA, that, should he sign, he’d be appointed a correspondent in the United States.

Su-Ho takes his job back and heads off to become a correspondent, still wanting justice for his son and a bright future for his wife, whom he promises and more.
