Kang In-ha: The Impossible Heir character explained

Kang In-ha, the illegitimate son of a wealthy man, sets out to become his father’s successor. In The Impossible Heir, Lee Jun-young plays In-ha.

The chairman of Kangoh Group has two legitimate sons and one illegitimate son, Kang In-ha.

In-ha was very young when his mother took her own life. Following her death, he goes to live with his father’s family.

Although he lives with them and enjoys all the luxuries, he is neglected. What makes matters worse is the fact that even the townspeople pay no attention to him.

He is invisible to everyone around him. The only one who treats him kindly and as family is his half-sister, Hui-ju.

The mistreatment from his family and the townspeople drives In-ha to behave like a delinquent, yet even then he fails to get anyone’s attention.

Becoming Tae-oh’s partner

In-ha’s life changes when he meets Tae-oh, a genius who transfers to his school. Tae-oh is also the first person who takes notice of In-ha’s actions.

Initially, they get off on the wrong foot, but one day, after boxing with Tae-oh, In-ha tries to befriend him. Despite Tae-oh’s refusal to be his friend, In-ha defends him at school.

Tae-oh eventually opens up to In-ha about his family and past, but even that does not drive In-ha away.

As a result, Tae-oh proposes that they work together for their mutual benefit: Tae-oh will do everything in his power to make In-ha the chairperson of the Kangoh Group, and in return, he would use In-ha to achieve success.

With Tae-oh’s help, In-ha gains admission to one of the top universities and maintains his grades. Over time, the two eventually become close friends.

The journey to becoming the chairperson

Tae-oh is not the only one who wishes to use In-ha to climb the social ladder. A classmate of theirs, Hye-won, aims to do the same.

However, unlike Tae-oh, she is not honest with In-ha about her intentions. Knowing that In-ha likes her, she keeps rejecting him to heighten his interest in her.

As she had expected, In-ha starts liking her even more. It is only then that she agrees to date him, resulting in Hye-won getting involved in all of Tae-oh and In-ha’s schemes.

As time passes, both In-ha and Tae-oh get jobs at Kangoh, with In-ha faithfully following Tae-oh’s guidance, which brings them closer to their goal.

Additionally, Hye-won tells In-ha that she will marry him once he achieves his goal, which fuels In-ha’s determination to achieve it more quickly.

Tae-oh himself ascends to become the chairman’s right-hand man, while also paving the way for In-ha.

Tae-oh’s hard work pays off, and the chairman finally publicly acknowledges In-ha as his son. However, In-ha still has a long way to go before he becomes his father’s successor.
