How does Jin I-Soo become a cop in Flex X Cop?

Flex X Cop follows Jin I-Soo, who likes to play cops as his pastime, gets to become a cop for real after a series of accidents and misunderstandings lead to an arrangement between the police and his wealthy family.

Jin I-Soo is the bratty son of the uber-wealthy chairman of the Hansu Group.

He rents a whole mall for one of his survival games, where he plays a cop and saves hostages from criminals.

His ideas of pastimes, along with his wardrobe, cars, and expenditure are all larger-than-life.

He’s been professionally trained in MMA and holds a degree in law as well, both of which lead to him ending up as a real cop one day.

A wrongful arrest

Jin I-Soo’s junkie friend, Younghwan, gets stabbed in the hand by a passerby after he’s alerted by Jin I-Soo’s fake SWAT uniform.

He makes a run for it and I-Soo chases him down, eventually incapacitating him with a brutal beatdown.

Detective Lee Gang-Hyun happens upon this fight and arrests I-Soo for special assault, also breaking his nose in the process.

Despite pressure from her superiors to nab a chaebol, she continues the due process and questions him, only further affirming her conclusions.

The aftermath

I-Soo’s father learns about his detainment while addressing the media at a press conference for his mayoral candidacy announcement.

He confronts I-Soo at the police station and slaps him, before reprimanding him further for shaming the family name once again. He then fires him and says he’s on his own now.

However, I-Soo’s older brother, Jin Seung-Ju, remains on his side as he’s always been. He asks his assistants to learn about the case he’s involved in.

Seung-Ju’s suggestion

Upon learning that the guy I-Soo beat up is actually the culprit of an infamous family murder case and also has two convictions for robbery, Seung-Ju makes his move.

Meanwhile, Gang-Hyun’s superiors, including Chief Hwang Sung-Gu, scramble to salvage the situation.

Thanks to Gang-Hyun’s proper investigation into his claims, they’ve also learned about I-Soo’s victim’s identity.

The son of Hansu Group’s chairman caught the murderer that the police failed to arrest for months, and then he got arrested and his nose broken for it.

This fate of a brave civilian is most tragic, and if it goes out to the public sphere, the image of the police would be nothing but rubble. Chief Sung-Gu fears that.

He’s only six months from his retirement so the headache is worse. He considers firing Gang-Hyun from her position but Seung-Ju meets them and proposes an alternative.

Becoming a real cop

He suggests making Jin I-Soo a policeman and telling the media he’s been working on the case of the family murderer for a while now.

This way, his father’s image and candidacy would be saved from getting sullied and destroyed, as well as help preserve the image of the police.

Chief goes with the suggestion and decides to make Jin I-Soo a cop.

None other than Gang-Hyun, who thinks very low of I-Soo, is ordered to announce this to the media in a press conference.

She announces that Jin I-Soo became a cop through special hiring for lawyers, to work in the Violent Crime Investigation Team 1 to work on the family murder for two months.

The media picks up the story and goes wild with it.

I-Soo eventually agrees to become a cop for real and confirms the story at a press conference his brother holds at the company.

Shortly after that, he is welcomed at the Gangha Police Station with a red carpet entrance.
