Cho Pan-Sik: Welcome to Samdal-ri character explained

Cho Pan-Sik is the doting father of Cho Sam-Dal, Cho Hae-Dal, and Cho Jin-Dal the softer parent of the two. Seo Hyun-chul plays the character in Welcome to Samdal-ri.

Cho Pan-Sik is the father of Cho Sam-Dal, Cho Jin-Dal, and Cho Hae-Dal, and whereas their mother is the tough parent, he’s the softer, more lenient one.

The good dad

Cho Pan-Sik’s daughters have always been a handful and the village has had to suffer from the chaos they would often create.

To keep them in order, their mother is the one who raises the voice, and even hands when she has to.

While she is reprimanding them and disciplining them, their father is always standing behind her making faces at the plight his unruly daughters have to contend with.

He can be seen mouthing words to them and frequently interjecting the scolding session with his advocacy of his daughters.

It’s akin to the ‘good cop, bad cop’ trope wherein he’s the good cop whereas Go Mi-Ja plays the bad cop.

Last dad standing

It’s not just inside the house where he defends her girls but also outside. He’s a bus driver and makes roundtrips all over the region.

Naturally, he comes across a plethora of personalities and happens to be in the vicinity of numerous conversations.

When one such conversation between two passengers involves the mention of daughter Sam-Dal, he overhears them feeding the allegation frenzy against his daughter.

He wastes no time intervening in the conversation and calling the passengers out, even ready to bicker and brawl. Later, he also tries to set the record straight to the local Haenyos gossiping about Sam-Dal.

No matter the nature of the gossip or murmur about her daughter(s), Cho Pan-Sik is like the last man standing to defend the girls he is so proud of.
