Plot summary

Ginger lives peacefully with Rocket and all of the other chickens in a thriving community on a forested island away from human eyes.

Their daughter Molly is born and right from a young age, Molly has an explorative nature that often puts her in dangerous situations.

Rocky wants to show off Ginger’s exploits but she prefers to keep their past in the background and not give Molly any ideas.

Whenever Fetcher and Nick show up with junk from beyond the water, Molly grows more curious about what lies out there.

She finds an old poster of Rocket and asks him what a Lone Free Ranger is. He tells her about his adventures and this emboldens her even more.

One day, the chickens hear a commotion on the mainland and a new road being paved. Along it, they observe trucks heading to some sort of chicken farm.

Ginger gathers all of the chickens and much to their surprise, she suggests that they keep low to not draw attention to themselves.

Molly has no idea what happens on a chicken farm but she asks to leave the island, Ginger flat out denies her pleas.

She sneaks out at night and crosses over to the mainland. Ginger is woken up by a nightmare and discovers an empty bed in Molly’s room.

They realize where she has gone and rush after her. Molly almost gets run over by one of the trucks but is saved by another young chicken named Frizzle.

Frizzle says that she lived on a farm but was deemed too small to go on the truck to the happy place.

She convinces Molly that the truck is headed somewhere fun and they get picked up by the driver and loaded on the truck with the other chickens.

Ginger, Rocket, Babs, Mac, Bunty, and Fowler cross over and see Ginger getting picked up but they aren’t able to get her out.

They follow the truck to a giant facility with immense security. Frizzle and Molly watch as the chickens get collars put on and then drop into a funland with rides and bright colors.

Ginger wants to devise a plan to break into the facility and save Molly, but Rocket slingshots himself immediately and gets past the security.

Molly and the gang enlist the help of Nick and Fetcher to break in. Frizzle and Molly enjoy their time there but soon notice that the chickens with collars have turned mindless.

A human named Dr. Fry sees Frizzle without a collar so he puts on a chicken suit and grabs another collar to put on the young chicken.

Molly is momentarily distracted and she finds Frizzle again, her new friend is mindless like the others. She promises to find out what is going on in that place.

The rats get separated and find Rocket in a waste disposal. Ginger finds Molly and follows her to Dr. Fry’s quarters.

Dr. Fry welcomes Reginald Smith of the ‘Sir Eats-a-lot’ restaurant chain to propose a deal within them.

He plays a presentation explaining their process of keeping the chickens happy and then turning them into delicious nuggets.

Then Dr. Fry welcomes his wife, Mrs Tweedy. Molly is shocked to see Mrs. Tweedy once again and she tries to keep Molly away from her.

Mrs. Tweedy notices the chicken that ruined her life and captures her. She gets Ginger fitted with a collar but Rocket and Molly help her get out of there.

The chickens try to escape and end up in a corn silo and Mrs. Tweedy turns on the grinder for the silo.

Rocket comes up with the clever idea of making popcorn and they manage to escape. Everyone else is ready to get out of there but Molly wants to rescue her friend.

Ending explained:

A daring rescue

Ginger listens to Molly and tells the others that they need to rescue the other chickens in the facility.

She tells Molly to go along with Babs, Bunty, Mac, and the rats to stop the other chickens from getting onto the conveyor belt.

She and Rocket will head to the control room to find the remotes and turn off the collars.

Out for revenge

Mrs. Tweedy greets Reginald who has come for his first delivery. However, Rocket and Ginger successfully incapacitate Dr. Fry.

Mrs. Tweedy shows up and stops them from getting to the remote before activating the collars.

Ginger, Molly, and Rocket work together to stop the chickens from going over, and push Mrs. Tweedy into the frier.

The chickens get onto the truck and escape in a truck.

For the good of the species

Mrs. Tweedy emerges on the other side covered in bread crumbs and she goes after the truck with her axe.

She cuts a hole in the roof of the truck and is about to get them when Fowler swings by and knocks her into the water where the exploding ducks are swimming.

Dr. Fry mentions that the machines are overloading because Mrs. Tweedy went through and the entire facility begins blowing up as the chickens escape.

Things return to normal on Chicken Island as Molly and Frizzle go out on reconnaissance missions to seek out other farms where chickens need to be rescued.
