Brendol Hux: The Mandalorian season 3 character explained

Brendol Hux is a commandant and member of the Imperial Shadow Council operating in the galaxy. The character is portrayed by Brian Gleeson.

Brendol Hux has appeared in several peripheral media within the Star Wars franchise but the character makes his first live-action appearance in episode 7 of The Mandalorian as the Shadow Council discusses important matters.

He even sired an illegitimate son named Armitage Hux who makes an appearance in the sequel trilogy as a General in the First Order and is played by Brian’s brother, Domhnall Gleeson.

Hux was a junior officer in the Grand Republic before occupying an important role in the Empire. During the fall of the Empire, he was rescued and made a member of the Shadow Council responsible for ensuring the survival of the regime.

An important project

Moff Gideon joins in on a meeting of the Shadow Council where the other members are holo-projecting from their respective locations. Captain Gilad Pellaeon takes the lead during the meeting to tell everyone else to maintain their efforts until the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Commandant Hux also asks Moff Gideon about Project Necromancer, potentially referring to the research that ultimately leads to the resurrection of Emperor Palpatine.

He and Moff Gideon did not see eye to eye

He then ridicules Moff Gideon’s requests for more firepower and 3 praetorian guards but Gideon tells the other members of the council that the Mandalorians are banding together and convinces them that he’s the right person to end this particular resurgence.

Brendol Hux was ultimately killed by his protege, Captain Phasma who conspired with Armitage Hux and poisoned the commandant in one of the graphic novels within the Star Wars canon.
