Angelica: Family Switch character explained

In Family Switch, Angelica is a fortune teller who seems to be the only other person who knows what the Walkers are facing. Rita Moreno plays Angelica.

The Walkers meet Angelica outside the planetarium, where the exhibit for the quintuple planetary alignment, a rare cosmic event, is taking place.

Angelica is a traveling fortune teller who also works as a Lyft driver. Jess is quick to call out Angelica when she tries to lure the family in for a reading. She refers to Angelica’s profession as performative liberalism.

No matter how much Jess criticizes Angelica, somehow Angelica knows how the Walkers are doing and what they should do to solve their life problems, as she advises them to open their hearts and look through the lens of one another.

Angelica also shows up as the only person around when the Walkers are arguing near the telescope. She is asked to take a picture of theirs. When she takes their picture, a bright light from the planetary alignment falls upon the Walkers, and the next day, they find their bodies switched.

Is Angelica responsible for the switch?

It’s debatable whether Angelica is responsible for the switch or not. The film hints that her clicking the picture of the Walkers is what resulted in the switch. However, there is no confirmation that she used some magic to make it possible.

Angelica is asked to take a picture of the Walkers

She does become the Walkers’ guide. From the very beginning, she has been telling them what they need to do cryptically. The Walkers keep ignoring her. She also hints at how they can return to their original bodies by advising them to fix what is broken.

The Walkers fail to understand her message. In spite of that, in the end, they do manage to fix what is broken and return to their original bodies.
