Alexis Kong: The Brothers Sun character explained

Alexis Kong, the love interest of protagonist Charles Sun, is one of the major supporting characters in Netflix’s crime drama series, The Brothers Sun. Highdee Kuan essays the role on screen.

Alexis and Charles were the closest buddies during their childhood, back in Taipei, Taiwan.

Later, she’d move to LA while he’d remain in Taiwan, becoming quite the opposite of each other in terms of their professions.

In terms of their nature, love lives, and personalities, though, they are pretty similar.

Aiming big

Alexis Kong dreams of becoming the District Attorney but this is no lofty dream. She is working hard to achieve this.

She even goes off the books when investigating, asking her partner to let her look into the seized evidence and use them, or tracking down the suspects through dodgy measures.

She is almost playful at the crime scenes and yet she doesn’t let emotions take over her, at least in the cases that don’t involve Charles, her childhood best friend and now a romantic interest.

When Charles gets cold feed after they have sex and she asks about the details of the Triad business in LA, he breaks her heart by calling her a honeypot and heads off.

She then uses his phone and puts a tracker in it to follow him around anywhere he goes.

This ultimately helps her pin the location of the hotel where all Triads arrive for a historic meeting.

Living small

Alexis has been living in a new house she moved into years ago making a bachelor pad out of it.

She still hasn’t taken out stuff from the boxes and put them up where they are supposed to be.

When Charles spends a while in her house, he notices this almost hoarder-like lifestyle.

Due to his knack for cleanliness and maintenance, he transforms her house into what resembles a home.

Her other habits, like eating spicy ramen noodles and spicy packets also resemble someone who isn’t exactly homely in their proclivities.

She admits at one point that she’s never made a meal, as she does a horrendous job at making scrambled eggs.

When Charles leaves her heartbroken, he does so after remarking that she has been living in an apartment that looks like a prison and has no life outside her job.

Winning big

Due to the tracking of Charles’s phone, she finds out the location of the historic meeting of the Triad heads in LA, and when it’s confirmed, the department and SWAT head off for the location.

They raid the place where a three-way fight breaks out between the Triad head, the Boxers, and the authorities. Some Triad heads are killed, and some are arrested.

Triad head Frank Ma later offers Alexis a deal wherein he’d testify against anyone in exchange for his immunity and safe passage to Taipei.

However, he can only do so once Big Sun is arrested as well. She tries to coax information about Big Sun’s whereabouts from Charles and also Bruce but fails to get any.

However, he’s also finally arrested when he’s admitted to a hospital.

Alexis wins it big, and her colleagues celebrate this win with a cheer at the office and gift her her favorite spicy ramen noodles.
