Alex Gator: Eric character explained

Alex Gator is the owner of The Lux, a nightclub Detective Ledroit has been investigating. In Eric, Wade Allain-Marcus plays Gator.

Alex Gator and Detective Ledroit share a past; they have known each other since childhood, and there is a lot of history between them.

Ledroit used to be Gator’s lover. Although Ledroit has been with William for the past seven years, he and Gator still evoke strong emotions in each other.

Ledroit’s frequent visits to The Lux, Gator’s nightclub, have Gator questioning his motives, suggesting that Ledroit’s visits are not solely related to the cases he has been assigned.

Failure to start anew

Before The Lux, Gator had another nightclub called Sierra, where illegal activities like underage prostitution, among others, took place.

The police managed to shut down the club, and Gator was found guilty of dealing drugs, resulting in a six-year prison sentence.

After spending six years in prison, Gator learns his lesson and decides to steer away from all illegal activities.

Just a few months after his release, he opens The Lux. He is ready to leave his past behind and start anew.

However, he is still a businessman, so he serves his customers whatever they want as long as he does not have to break the law.

Ledroit does not trust Gator and visits his club wearing a wire every other night to gather evidence against him. Despite Gator’s insistence that he is not doing anything illegal, Ledroit remains skeptical.

What Gator does not know is that his right-hand man has been acting as a procurer of young boys for the patrons of the club.

Gator has warned TJ multiple times not to link anything illegal with his club. He has seen TJ grow up; he trusts him, but TJ breaks his trust.

It is only when Ledroit asks Gator for the CCTV footage from the day Marlon disappeared and Gator finds it missing that he discovers TJ’s activities.

Enraged, Gator forces TJ to hand over the footage, which clearly shows Marlon’s murder. Along with that, he gets TJ to write down the names of all the patrons who were involved.

After William’s death and Ledroit’s failed attempt at rescuing Edgar, Ledroit seeks comfort in Gator, who knows and understands him very well. Ledroit ends up sleeping with him.

Gator also gives the footage to Ledroit, knowing that it will result in the closure of his club. Gator only has an hour before his club is raided.

Gator then parts ways with Ledroit, but not before he gives him all the names TJ revealed and encourages him to use his power against these influential people.

Thanks to Gator, Ledroit gains the courage to bring those involved in the crime to justice, but Gator loses everything once again and goes back to square one.
