The latest episode of Queen of Tears sees Baek Hyun-Woo surprise Hong Hae-In with a unique proposal after their divorce.
Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo’s divorce leads to the two start being more open to each other. Their communication improves manifold.
She doesn’t repress her feelings or cold-shoulder Hyun-Woo that much anymore. This leads to their relationship becoming stronger as their surrounding circumstances have only been bringing them closer.
When Yoon Eun-Sung proposes marriage and reinstatement of her position in Queens Department Store, in exchange for not wrongfully firing Hyun-Woo, Hae-In accepts the card she has been dealt with.
However, she only wants him to believe that. At the press conference, she tells the media that she was blackmailed by Eun-Sung, who threatened to fire her ex-husband.
She also shares the news about her terminal illness and numbered days. She does it for Baek Hyun-Woo, before shortly fainting due to her condition.
The confession
Hyun-Woo rushes her to the hospital, and as all her family visits her, in shock and grief, Hyun-Woo remains by her side.
She wakes up eventually and the first thing she says to Baek Hyun-Woo is “I love you.” She tells him how she fears she won’t get to say it, to tell him the truth before she dies.
She had overheard his feelings for her, back in Yongdu-ri. She wanted to confess hers as soon as possible.
After their divorce, the two are finally back together. Their romantic flirtations are back as they go through a honeymoon phase of sorts once again.
The proposal
Hyun-Woo takes the opportunity to move past their relationship slump and proposes to her with the most gorgeous ring. It is not a marriage proposal, given their circumstances, but one for withdrawing the divorce.
However, Hong Hae-In doesn’t accept the ring. That is because her condition has only gotten worse in the past few days. She has started to forget people and mistake one for another.
She even mistakes Yoon Eun-Sung for Hyun-Woo. She doesn’t want Hyun-Woo to be with her and see her in the miserable state that she would be in before her death.
She can’t bear to have her lover see her in such a state and cause him more grief. This is why she can’t accept this proposal, despite her heart wanting nothing else but to be with him.
That said, she can’t help but absolutely fawn over the ring, wearing it and admiring its beauty by herself the next day.
She is embarrassed at trying to hide the fact that she was just trying it on and loving it when Hyun-Woo walks in, having come to pick it up to return it to the shop.
Chances are, despite her refusal, Hong Hae-In might very well take the ring, irrespective of what the future holds for her.
