The film is almost reminiscent of Bridesmaids, starring Rudolph and Kristen Wiig. It is written by Poehler, Spivey and Liz Cackowski and is based on experiences from their real-life vacations with the SNL cast.
It focuses on six friends – each with very contrasting personalities from the other- who go along with Abby’s (Poehler) grand plan of celebrating Rebecca’s (Dratch) 50th.
They travel to various wineries in Napa Valley, California, as connoisseurs appreciating and discovering new wines. In their inebriated state, they rediscover themselves, reevaluate their friendship which spans decades, and rethink their future.
The remarkable cast is sure to elicit belly-aching laughter throughout the film. The trailer also hints at special cameo appearances from Tina Fey and Jason Schwartzman.
Wine Country is set to be released on May 10 on Netflix and in select theatres.
