“The story is very wicked and funny”: Shefali Shah on ‘Darlings’

Shefali Shah spoke about her experience while filming ‘Darlings‘ recently with Netflix releasing the trailer for the upcoming dark comedy film.

Shefali Shah stars alongside Alia Bhatt in this story about a mother-daughter duo who are set on revenge but are quite incompetent to do it properly. The film is set to release on 5 August.

Speaking about why she chose to do the film, Shah stated: “I took 12 minutes after the narration and reading of the script to agree to do this. I still believe it is one of the best scripts I’ve read. It’s a very poignant story but there’s no moral to the story which is always a little harder to digest.”

She added: “The story is wicked and funny, and it’s a genre I’ve never done before. The character I play is a cracker and everything is totally off with the mother and daughter.”

Speaking on the impact of streaming platforms on her career, Shah had this to say: “Netflix along with Delhi Crime have given me new life, and it’s been a high point of my career. It’s also been a learning point for me. I love this association with Netflix and I’m sure we’re going to have a very long relationship together.”

Shefali Shah also plays the role of DCP Vartika Chaturvedi in the Netflix series ‘Delhi Crime’ that is based on the Nirbhaya case that took place in 2012.
