On being questioned about what drew her to the character of Kasturi Dogra, Tandon said:

“I think it is the story and the entire persona and the dilemma she goes through at every point in her life because she is this fiercely independent, super talented, brainy brawny cop and is waiting for that opportunity to excel in her life. The very fact that she wants to achieve her career which she passionately loves, being a cop attracted me to this character.”

She added:

“She’s surrounded by her male counterparts, wants to achieve something in her career and the way we women juggle our career, lives, emotional support that we get or don’t get from home.

“Our priorities are our children, in-laws, family, that’s what completely attracted me to her character. A lot of women can identify with that, especially our women in uniform.”

Series Head at Netflix India, Tanya Bami said:

“I am truly inspired by Tandon’s character, Kasturi Dogra. I think every woman will find a note in that character that will resonate with each of us at work, at home and in various facets of our life.

“Above and beyond that, it is a beautifully written and very well created thriller that will keep you at the edge of your seats and we believe that stories should be propulsive and this is definitely one hugely propulsive thriller.”

The director, Rohan Sippy elaborated on the origin of the character of Kasturi Dogra which impersonates a real female cop from a small town in Himachal Pradesh and the authenticity with which Charudutt Acharya writes stories of powerful women and extensive crime thrillers.

Director Vinay Vaikul discussed the climatic challenges faced in the process of shooting in Manali and how the restrictions due to the pandemic uplifted it.

The intriguing caption to ‘Aranyak’s’ trailer reads:

“Ek jungle. Anek raaz. Yahan jaanwar khatarnak hai ya insaan? Kripya kisi pe bharosa na karein. Kya yehi hai Sironah ka sach?”

‘Aranyak’ follows the disappearance of a teen female tourist and Kasturi’s fight against the adversities to expose the underlying mystery. ‘Aranyak’ Season 1 premieres on December 10 on Netflix.
