The teaser for the upcoming crime thriller ‘The Guilty’ was recently released by Netflix. The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua and is a remake of a Danish film of the same name. It will premiere on 1 October, 2021.
The film follows a demoted cop assigned to the call dispatch desk and his conflicted emotions upon receiving a call from kidnapped woman. The Danish original was first released in 2018 at the Sundance Film Festival.
Gyllenhaal acquired the rights to ‘The Guilty’ and announced that he would be producing a remake under his Nine Stories production banner, alongside Bold Films. Later that month, Netflix acquired worldwide rights to the film.
The screenplay is written by Nic Pizzolatto. Along with Gyllenhaal, the cast also includes Ethan Hawke, Paul Dano, Riley Keough, Peter Sarsgaard and Bill Burr. The film will also be screened at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival.
