‘The Gray Man’ to get a sequel and spin-off, Netflix announces

Netflix has announced that it will be developing a sequel and a spin-off for the action film ‘The Gray Man’ to build a significant spy franchise.

The Gray Man is based on the best-selling book series by Mark Greaney and stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Regé-Jean Page and Ana de Armas. Joe and Anthony Russo direct it.

A sequel is already in development with Gosling and the Russos set to return while Stephen McFeely will be writing. The film will be produced by the Russos and AGBO’s Mike Larocca along with Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum for Roth Kirschenbaum Films.

A spin-off film exploring a different element of The Gray Man universe has also been confirmed and will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. The logline for the film has not been revealed yet.

Speaking about a sequel, the Russos had this to say: “The audience reaction to The Gray Man has been nothing short of phenomenal. We are so appreciative of the enthusiasm that fans across the world have had for this film.”

“With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for the Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script that we’re excited to talk about soon.”

The film debuted as the #1 movie in 92 countries and is the third film from AGBO to premiere on Netflix following Mosul (2019) and Extraction (2020).
