The Boys: Filming wraps up for second season

Amazon Prime Video’s comic book adapted series, The Boys is finally done filming its second season. The first season started streaming in July and was a breath of fresh air when it comes to superhero content.

Based on the comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show built a much realistic world in which superheroes, like regular humans, are corrupt and dangerous.

It was well received by both critics and fans alike and was renewed for a second season a week before the first one premiered. The twitterverse exploded with praises for the show.

A lot of tweets and posts were of fans expressing their disappointment that they would have to wait for season 2. Amazon did us no favours by ending season 1 on a major cliffhanger.

Fast forward four months and actor Karl Urban who plays Billy Butcher on the show has given everyone a positive update on Instagram:

The Instagram post also revealed the potential premier date for season 2 of The Boys, which is Mid 2020. This is probably due to the fact that it requires many months for post processing to inject high quality VFX and CGI.

It can be assumed that season 2 will start streaming in July next year like its predecessor. The show also stars Elisabeth Shue, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Chace Crawford and Karen Fukuhara. The new season will definitely add new faces into the mix.

The Boys has been developed by Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg and, Seth Rogen.

In the meantime, check out our review of season 1.
