After a successful maiden season, Disney+ Hotstar Specials renewed Criminal Justice for a second season, titled Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors.
The new season will see Pankaj Tripathi reprise his role of defence lawyer Madhav Mishra while Anupriya Goenka will play Lawyer Nikhat Hussain. A new mystery awaits the two and the show will follow the pair as they try to unravel another twisted case.
The new entrant to the cast, Shilpa Shukla, will play the role of Ishani Nath, a powerful and mysterious woman who doesn’t crack under pressure.
Shukla is known for her performances in Chak De! India and B.A. Pass, winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for the latter in 2014.
Disney+ Hotstar specials’ Criminal Justice is the Indian adaption of the hit BBC series of the same name.
Its first season featured Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka, and Mita Vashisht.
The sophomore season of the crime thriller will reportedly be directed by filmmakers Rohan Sippy and Arjun Mukherjee.
The makers are keeping most of the details under wraps, but Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors is expected to release sometime this year.
