Paatal Lok Season 2: Anushka Sharma hints at possibility

Produced by Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Films, Paatal Lok released on May 15 on Amazon Prime Video and received great reviews.

The web series is the first production venture of actor-producer Anushka Sharma on a digital platform. The story of A cynical inspector who is tasked with investigating an attempt of murder on a leading journalist of the country which leads him into a dark realm of the underworld has wowed the audience.

After the successful run of season one, fans were real quick to pop questions on whether or not will there be another season of Sudip Sharma’s dark and gritty web series.

Anushka Sharma, in an email interview with the PTI, mentioned a few things that very well indicate the idea of season two is on the table.

“You have to wait and watch to know more about season two. I don’t want to divulge too much but let’s just say it’s quite possible. It’s too early to talk about it but yes if Amazon is willing to do it, definitely there will be a second season”

This is the second time Anushka Sharma had collaborated as a producer counting on Sudip Sharma’s writing abilities. NH10, her Production debut was also written by Sudip.

The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi star was all praises about him:

“Sudip’s first film as a writer was NH10. So, we go back a long way and he’s like a brother to me. I believe in everything he writes because he is such an economical writer. He is somebody who will tell you the most complicated things in the simplest manner and most entertaining fashion and I think that is his greatest strength as a writer,” the actor said, adding that she was happy that they have done some of their best work together.

Anushka Sharma has always being careful and intelligent about her choices of backing films as a producer, that being said she also shows faith in people’s talent.

“It has been deliberate (as) we want to push boundaries; we want to push the envelope as far as content is concerned… I was always driven by content. I was not fooled by pop culture. I was not fooled by songs. I was not fooled by just beauty when I saw films. So that is something that I will reflect in my choices.

As a producer I have always backed content which has been unique and which, you can also say, has been dark. But I don’t really categorise them into anything. For me, stories are stories. They are ideas and they just have to be said in the most truthful way possible and I think that’s what we’ve always tried to do. Emergence of streaming platforms has been a real boon for creative people,” she added.
