Netflix’s ‘Mimi’ stars Kriti Sanon as surrogate mother

Netflix has released the official trailer for its upcoming movie, ‘Mimi’, which features Kriti Sanon in the titular role. The surrogacy based drama is set to release on the streamer on July 30.

Helmed by Laxman Utekar, the movie follows Kriti Sanon’s character, a small-town girl from Rajasthan, who is paid Rs 20 lakh to act as a surrogate for an American couple. Tripathi plays the role of the intermediary, persuading both parties with his flawless manner.

The trailer depicts the events as a roller-coaster. From locating the perfect location for Mimi to stay to concealing her pregnancy, to dealing with her dramatic parents, there’s a lot on her plate.

The only stumbling block is Mimi’s ability to conceal her pregnant tummy from her parents and the whole public. The film explores the difficulties of surrogacy and how society views it.

When Mimi is told that the American couple no longer wants the kid and that she must have an abortion, her world is turned upside down. Mimi’s family believes that a pregnant unmarried daughter is an illegitimate child. And there’s a dash of religious rivalry thrown in for good measure.

Dinesh Vijan produced the film, which also stars Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak, and Sai Tamhankar. The film’s music was composed by AR Rahman.
